Here's how it all began

Hi there, I'm Zene ("Founder" of Google Athlete).

I was inspired to start the Google Athlete after creating a website and Google Business Profile for a friend on a WhatsApp group – a construction builder. Having helped his website get to the top of Google in a matter of weeks this changed my life, I was addicted and started building sites for other trades. I started getting referrals passed to me as word spread, and within a short space of time my small group of friends and I were building websites and optimising Google Business Profiles for builders, blinds & shutters experts, electricians, plumbers, gas engineers, dentists, and solicitors.

Since I've been discussing Google Business Profiles and websites with clients so often, I've realised how much false selling big agencies and freelancers have been doing in order to sell their poor and often ineffective services. Many agencies and freelancers were charging large sums of money without even doing basic optimisation for the clients Google Business Profile or websites.

By now, most of my clients were not just small businesses and sole traders, but instead included SMEs of all kinds throughout the world, so I set up Google Athlete and hired more people.
